The Venerable Stephen Roberts has been appointed as the Deputy Diocesan Secretary.  Stephen Roberts has been Archdeacon of Wandsworth in the Diocese of Southwark for the last ten years.  Prior to this he was Canon Treasurer of Southwark Cathedral and Diocesan Director of Ordinands.  He will begin his new role on September 1st.

The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun comments, "Stephen will be an excellent Deputy Diocesan Secretary working with Ruth Martin our new Diocesan Secretary.  He brings complementary skills and long experience of equipping and supporting parishes for mission and ministry.  When Stephen concludes his distinguished service as Archdeacon of Wandsworth I will be glad to appoint him Honorary Canon. "

Commenting on his appointment Ruth Martin, the Diocesan Secretary says, "Stephen will bring his experience as an Archdeacon into the work of supporting the parishes across our Diocese.  He is Chair of the Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee and until 2013 was Chair of the Group developing and implementing the new Diocesan Strategy.  This new role will enable him to share the knowledge and skills he has gained to help us to maximise our opportunities for mission and ministry."

The Venerable Stephen Roberts comments, "I am excited by this next stage of my ministry here in the Diocese and look forward to working with Ruth and the Staff at Trinity House as we seek together to serve the parishes of the Diocese in Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ."

Paul Parkinson, Chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) says, "I was delighted to be part of the appointment process for the next Deputy Diocesan Secretary and in particular with Stephen's successful appointment.
