The Bishop of Southwark, The Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, has appointed the Revd Canon Tim Marwood as Acting Archdeacon of Wandsworth. He will take up his role on 22 July 2015 and will continue until the arrival of the new Archdeacon, which it is hoped will be in the autumn. He will succeed the Venerable Stephen Roberts who has been appointed as Deputy Diocesan Secretary in this Diocese.  

Revd Canon Tim Marwood is NSM, House for Duty, Priest of St Peter, Petersham. He taught for 35 years mainly in CofE primary schools including twenty as Head of St Mary’s CofE Primary School, Putney. He was Area Dean of Richmond and Barnes from 2010-2015. He is married to Jane, also a teacher.He has a lifelong enjoyment of cricket and is passionate about rugby.  

Commenting on the appointment, Bishop Christopher says: ‘I am pleased that Tim Marwood is willing to step into this role for a few months. He will ensure that the people of the Archdeaconry feel well supported and cared for as they await their new Archdeacon’.  

Bishop Richard says:‘There are many exciting developments happening in the Kingston Area at present and I am pleased that Tim is able to join Archdeacon Simon and I as we seek to explore the exciting possibility for ministry here in the Area’.  

Tim Marwood says, ‘I am privileged to be asked to undertake this role and look forward to supporting the mission of the parishes in the Archdeaconry and caring for the lay and ordained ministers. I am conscious that I am one of the first NSMs to be given the opportunity to serve in this way and ask for your prayers as I take up these responsibilities’.
